Al-Kooheji highlighted that the exchange of trade delegations between Bahrain and Korea is a strategic step to enhance cooperation in sectors such as industry, technology, and tourism. He also stressed the importance of developing information and communications technology as a core area of cooperation and called for leveraging the Free Trade Agreement between South Korea and the GCC to support innovation and create an attractive investment environment that enhances global market competitiveness.
On the sidelines of the forum, AlKooheji met with
Executive Director of the Tourism Companies Support department, Jong-Sool Kwon and the Director of the tourism Start-up Acceleation team at the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), Keun-Hee Jeong. Al-Kooheji emphasized the value of fostering cultural exchange and cultivating a generation of "youth ambassadors" by establishing a student exchange program between Bahrain and Korea. He also highlighted the importance of organizing cultural and tourism events that connect the GCC countries and Korea, with the goal of facilitating a rich exchange of Gulf and Korean cultures.
For his part, Kwon highlighted several tourism programs offered by the Korea Tourism Organization and the potential for enhanced cooperation with Bahrain, particularly in the field of medical tourism.
Additionally, AlKooheji met with the Commissioner of the InvestSeoul entity, Bonhi Gu to discuss the possibility of signing a future MoU aimed at strengthening business relations between the two countries, including encouraging InvestSeoul leaders to visit Bahrain to explore collaboration opportunities with Bahraini companies, alongside the exchange of information and facilitation of company cooperation to enhance investment.
AlKooheji also met the Executive Vice Chairman of Korea Federation of SME (KBIZ) Yoon-Mo Jeong to strengthen collaboration between the Bahrain Chamber and KBIZ, with a focus on supporting SMEs. They discussed KBIZ’s role as a private organization funded by membership fees and contributions, serving as an advocate for SMEs in Korea through policy recommendations and legislative support, inspired by models from developed countries.
